MICHAEL REIBEL

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Michael was always drawn to the outdoors and the natural beauty of the landscape. He finds the sensory elements of nature to be a moving and inspirational experience each and every time he ventures out in search of material for future paintings. "The stillness and quietness of the landscape often provide the inspiration for many of my works"

In 2004, a chance visit to his home by a local artist proved to be a pivotal moment in Michael's life, as he returned to his artistic ambitions. The artist was impressed by one of Michael's paintings and she encouraged him to not let his artistic abilities to go to waste. She referred him to a local art studio in Louisville where he signed up for classes and his journey began again. " I am focused and passionate, striving to continually mature as an artist. I am forever working to enhance the poetic expression of my ideas with each painting."

In 2016 Michael and his wife relocated to South Carolina. Since making the move south he found the clean light and abundant sunshine of the coast to be a refreshing change from what he frequently encountered in Kentucky when heading out to paint. The majority of Michael’s work is of the southern landscape, resulting from his love for the patina and history of the South.
