Looking Up: A Group Show
Looking up to the sky inspires us in many ways. The sky represents dreaming, optimism, peace, and a connection to the universe. It's a promise of new undertakings. When life seems unclear and disorderly the sky is there to provide us with awesomeness and magnificence and remind us that all things are possible. Everyone needs a touch of inspiration to reignite their inner fire. To lose yourself in beauty all you have to do is Look Up. Please visit our ARTISTS page of the website to view all the works.

Reflections, A Group Show
Our latest Group Show features over 30 new pieces exploring the concept of Reflection. The art in this collection demonstrates literal reflective surfaces, and the theoretical reflection of one's self in the art. We have curated a body of work that encourages the viewer to take time to reflect. When interacting with art, developing an iterative process that explores where you've been, where you are, and where you want to go, holds immense value. Pausing to reflect helps guide this journey. A painting that embodies a feeling, or a painting that demonstrates a physical reflection of light, is a tangible reminder to take a moment to reflect on your day, on yourself, or on the direction of your life. It is said that what we focus on outside is a reflection of what we feel inside. It is important to have beautiful objects around us so that we may reflect the beauty we see. The works will be on display in the gallery and on the website (please visit the "Artist Page" to view the online show) August 21st through September 21st, 2020.

Karen Larson Turner: Moment of Peace
30 new paintings from Karen Larson Turner. In difficult times it is important to take a moment to calm your active mind and search for peace within. For Karen, the act of painting allows her to escape the stresses of life. Her work provides a respite from daily troubles, both personal and global. With this collection of paintings, Karen seeks to share that sense of serenity with the viewer. A near empty city street, a foggy marsh undet the night sky, Spanish moss gently swaying in the breeze, and empty chair inviting you to rest... Each painting depicts a moment of tranquility and silence. As we spend more time at home, having art that inspires peace of mind becomes necessary. Art is essential to our well being. A beautiful painting holds a gentle spirit which brings pleasure and hope. It represents the enduring glory of humanity and the coming of a brighter future. We invite you to take a moment to enjoy Karen Larson Turner's latest colelction. Available on her Artist page.

Southern Traditions
TO VIEW THE SHOW GO TO THE 'ARTISTS' SECTION OF THE WEBSITE! A tradition is a custom passed down from generation to generation. We have cultural traditions and family traditions, and each contributes to a sense of practice and belonging. In the Southern US we have the traditions of Sunday suppers created from recipe cards handed down through the years. We sit on the porch and watch the sunset on a warm and humid evening. We comb the beaches looking for seashells and soak-in the sun while kayaking down the meandering marsh estuaries. In celebration of this, each artist has created works exploring their person family customs and the rituals we all share. Over 30 new paintings will be presented ONLINE April 10th. We invite you to enjoy the new works and find a piece that reflects a beloved tradition you hold dear. Please contact the gallery for purchase by phone (843.637.0694) or email (kiawah@wellsgallery.com)

"I, Human", a new show from EB Lewis
On November 12th, from 5-7pm, EB Lewis will be in the gallery to discuss his latest series of paintings. The "I, Human" series presents figures with featureless faces. The artist explains that the brain works to "fill-in" the detail that are omitted from the painting, causing the viewer to put their own story to the piece. It individualizes the work and the figure becomes 'every person'. The viewer can see them self in the figure regardless of race, age, or gender. EB's statement is that we are all the same, we are all human. All pieces belonging to this series will be identified as IH (for I, Human), and the number in which they were created to further seperate them from a specific title or 'story', leaving them more open to the viewer's interpretations.
